The magical 3&4 position

Have you ever struggled to switch between certain chords, like C and G? In this article, I'll show you a chord position that makes transitioning between G, C, D, E, and A chords easily.

In this position, your 3rd and 4th fingers stay fixed on the two highest strings while the other fingers switch between the lower strings.

Although some chords, like Cadd9 or Dsus, may have complex names, they can easily replace standard C or D chords to add flavor and variety to your progressions. The same idea applies to A and E chords as shown in the diagram.

You can simplify the chord further, as shown in the diagram on the left. The simplest way to play a G chord requires pressing just one string. This diagram assumes your 3rd and 4th fingers remain fixed on the top two strings.
